Room
1
Llorente Collection
It contains a very interesting collection of short and long firearms and bladed weapons from Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. A total of 611 pieces make up a unique exhibition.
The collection has belonged to the Castillo de San Carlos Consortium since 2004 and was donated by its owner, Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Llorente Alberti.
The collection is published in a total of nine books (the first five are on sale at the Museum's information point). The most important pieces include a rapier attributed to Alfonso XIII, a Winchester rifle model 1866 manufactured in 1873, an 18th century Japanese rifle and a book with a secret compartment for a short gun.
Room
2
The French of Cabrera
The French War (1808-1814) can be found in this room. There is a very unique piece from the end of the 19th century, the model of the Llotja de Palma which, at that time, was used as a workshop and artillery weapons factory.
Room
3A
General Weyler
The room is dedicated to Valeriano Weyler, with funds, most of them donated by his granddaughter. He stands out as Captain General of the four Spanish archipelagos of that time "Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Cuba and Philippines", as well as Duke of RubĂ, Marquis of Tenerife, Grandee of Spain.
The room contains the General's biography, as well as the book "Las Trochas" of Cuba. His bust, deposited by the Army Museum and attributed to the sculptor Mariano Benlliure, and his work desk are important parts of this exhibition.
Room
3B
Defence Towers
This room is dedicated to the coastal defence towers. Of the 86 towers on the perimeter, which have survived the centuries, we have exhibited the most important and best preserved. A model reproduces the defence of a village alerted by the "tower watchman" of a pirate attack.
A warning system using signals between towers "smoke or fire" was invented by Joan Binimelis in the 16th century, the end point being the Angel Tower in the Almudaina Palace in Palma.
Room
3C
Uniformity. 60 years of history. Vexillology
This room is divided into three very different themes. The first is dedicated to uniforms, with uniforms, hats, medals and various accessories. The second "60 years of disagreements" in the military history of Spain, from Cuba and the Philippines to the Ifni war. In this context, an Enigma machine, various backgrounds from each period and a model of the Baleares cruiser.
In the Vexillology section, six flags from different periods make up the room with a brief explanation of their history. For the more vexillologists, there is a mural describing the evolution of coats of arms and flags from the time of the Catholic Monarchs to the present day, ending the mural with the flag of this Community.
Room
4
20th century
The 20th century collection comprises a very interesting room with mainly infantry and engineering pieces. Highlights include a portable manoeuvring radio, a gas mask for equines and a fire engine trailer.
There is also a display case that tells the story of the best Spanish combat rifle of the 20th century: the Fusa Cetme.
Room
5
El Hondero Balear. Nuredduna
The room is dedicated to the Mallorcan Slinger. There are several models of slingers, including the battle of Zama, in which the slingers fought alongside the Carthaginians. A series of photographs explain the life of the slingers and the legend of the Pythoness Nuredduna.
Room
6
Temporary Exhibitions
Room 6 is devoted to temporary exhibitions. Its architectural appearance suggests that it was the castle's place of worship.
At present, exhibitions are presented on a wide range of subjects, not exclusively military, e.g. paintings, toys, photography, etc.
Room
10
The PortopĂ Tower
Room 10 corresponds to the original tower built by Philip III in 1612. Halfway up the access staircase is the entrance to the original cistern, made up of two well-differentiated areas. In the upper part are the rooms and chambers where the equipment and ammunition were kept.
Coastal and anti-aircraft guns were installed on the terrace at various times, the latter during the Civil War.
Room
7
Charles IV and Vincent Mut
Room 7 is currently under renovation. It will soon be the point of interpretation of the fortress in its second phase. The room will contain two speeches, one dedicated to Philip IV and the other to Vicente Mut Armengol.
Room
9
Guard Corps of the Regiment of Volunteers of Majorca 1808
The Guard Corps of the Palma Volunteer Regiment of 1808 is staged in Room 9. We can see the costumes of that period, as well as the weapons, powder magazines and other elements used in those times.
Room
8
Artillery
The artillery weapon stands out in this room. Most of the funds come from the disbandment of the Mixed Artillery Regiment No. 91. We can observe different areas, the old artillery made up of extraordinary bronze pieces, the field artillery, the anti-aircraft artillery and the coastal artillery complete the exhibition.
A small interior room has the flags of the defunct regiment. The room has funds from the disarmed coastal batteries of Cabo Blanco and Cala Figuera, a rangefinder, a "Costilla" firing direction, as well as the RX-80 radar among other materials.
